Care for your natural sea sponge

Before using your sea sponge, you have to squeeze it under warm water to soften. Sea sponges are stiff when dry, but become very soft when wet.  Please inspect for any coral, shells, or sea debris.  All of our sponges are carefully processed and expertly cleaned, but we recommend that you check them yourself before the first use.

In order to extend the life of your natural sea sponge, soak your sea sponge for 15 minutes every few weeks in 1 cup of warm water and 1 Tablespoon of baking soda. Do this every day or every other day during use for sea sponge tampons. Then rinse and let dry preferably in a hanging mesh bag. In addition to thoroughly cleaning the sponge, baking soda revitalizes its cellular structure for increased durability.

DONT! Do not use strong bleach on a natural sponge as it will weaken its structure and over time will cause it to deteriorate. Do not microwave or dry in a clothes dryer. This will shrink & harden the sponge. Do not use very hot water on the sponge because it can damage it.
